Age of Empires 4 Trailer Screenshots

Age of Empires 4

There has been much speculation in the Age of Empires 4 community as to what time periods will be in the game. While the official list has not yet been released we can also speculate based on what the trailer has shown us so far. Instead of forcing you to re-watch the trailer again to pick up on subtle hints, I decided to breakdown the trailer into screenshots of every major screen.

Enjoy!

Age of Empires 4 announced by Relic Entertainment

Age of Empires 4 covers

We were happy to finally hear that Age of Empires 4 is in development by Relic Entertainment.

You maybe familiar with Relic already has they are heavily known for the Company of Heroes franchise, and other awesome rts games. Having Relic work on the product gives us hope that they will produce a fantastic version of Age of Empires.

Little is known about the game itself, other than it will be coming soon to Windows 10. The trailer released gave some indication to the type of eras possibly available for play by showing different types of armies. Some examples include:

  • British Redcoats
  • Native Americans
  • Roman legionnaires
  • Japanese samurai
  • and others

It’s unclear however if these will all be available in the game from the start or available later in expansions. I hope they do not piece meal out the options like Relic did with Company of Heroes 2.

Relic released a short message about the announcement:

“[We] couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the legacy,” a blog post reads. “We can’t wait to tap into our strengths as a studio to fuse historical context with deep strategic gameplay, and to bring this franchise back to the forefront of gaming and into the hands of its beloved community.”

We learned at E3 that definitive editions of Age of Empires 1 ,2 and 3 are in development as well which is great. Hopefully this will hold us over until Age of Empires 4 released.

Should we credit Age of Empires 4 to Bill Gates? He posted an interesting response on Reddit back in March 2016:
